I am progressing nicely on my GAME plan. It makes me feel good to know that I have set goals and I am on my way to reaching them. My students are also responding well to my new technology additions.
I am finding many of the things that I need to complete my GAME plan. I am using resources on the internet to find lesson ideas that incorporate more technology. I am also discovering new tools to use in my lessons and for the students to use in activities. I am very excited to learn how to use these new tools that I have come across, and the students are excited too.
I have been managing my time better lately so that I have been able to dedicate more time to researching for ideas to use technology in my classroom. I have also collaborated with my colleagues and my technology coordinator on new ways to incorporate technology into my classroom. I post all of my assignments on my web page so that students can see what they missed, and I have been better at keeping that updated.
A recent project that we are doing in my classroom is a virtual short story fair, where students are working in partners to create a wiki demonstrating their understanding of the assigned short story. They are required to provide literary details along with creative aspects. They are taking it well and seem excited about it. This leads me to a question. I know that students must take turns editing the wikis, but could they be working on the same wiki but on different pages?
I have learned many new ways to incorporate technology into my classroom, and I have also learned how easy it is to do. I do not feel that I have to change anything with my GAME plan right now because everything has been going well. I am pretty excited that I have been making good progress on my GAME plan.
Hi Danielle,
ReplyDeleteCollaborating with colleagues on ways about integrating technology is a very exciting process I know. I am doing that myself and I feel the positive energy everyday when I employ any of my colleagues’ idea and after we can all share. This is truly the collaboration we want to see from our students too. To work together, bounce off idea with classmates as a team. I bet you are as engaged as I am during panel meeting discussion what technology to include in our lesson planning, etc. Same for our students, for any project or group work I assign my students, they enjoy it to the fullest, as long as I allow them the room to do whatever they want, they will be more interested and motivated to take on the task.
As for your question about wiki, as far as I know, you don’t need to take turn to edit a wiki, different students can work on the same wiki, editing different pages. Did you and your students experience otherwise? Kindly explain….
Anyway good luck with your GAME plan! Thanks for sharing!
Sarah
Danielle,
ReplyDeleteFirst, I would like to say congratulations on being successful with your GAME plan! I know that it feels great to be achieving your goals, and I am sure that your students are excited about getting to use new technologies in your class. I am looking forward to the next couple weeks as we collaborate and work on the wiki together. I know that in our previous course when we worked on a wiki page, I saw first hand how beneficial they can be and how students really were highly engaged. I think that students are really motivated by it, and are excited to see who edited the page. The question that you asked is an interesting one, and I think that the answer is yes. If I remember correctly, any member of the group can log on and edit the page at any time. Good luck with your GAME plan, and I look forward to collaborating with you on our wiki assignment!
Sarah and Stacy:
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering my questions. You both are right about editing the wiki at the same time on different pages. My students discovered this on their own and shared it with me after I asked this question. My students have been collaborating successfully and better than usual when they use technology. It builds confidence in themselves and others, which is excellent for their futures!
